About me

My journey

Fernando Ikedo has over 25 years of experience in the aerospace and defense industry, having worked with both Brazilian and multinational companies. He has been part of the largest companies in this sector in Brazil (Embraer and Avibras), as well as major multinationals operating in the country. Currently, he serves as a mentor and business management consultant, focusing on marketing, sales, business development, strategy, and competitive intelligence.

At Avibras, he worked as the General Sales Manager for the Brazilian Defense Market and was Senior Advisor to the CEO in Competitive Intelligence. Prior to that, he held the position of Senior Marketing Director at AEL Sistemas, a subsidiary of the Elbit Systems group, in Porto Alegre (RS), and served as Business Development Director at Rockwell Collins do Brasil in São José dos Campos (SP).

He spent 15 years at Embraer, where he worked in the Defense area as a Sales Engineer, Senior Sales Engineering Manager, and Market Intelligence Director. Ikedo began his career in the aerospace and defense industry as an avionics systems engineer at Embraer, during which he worked on both military and civilian projects.

He holds a degree in Electronic Engineering from ITA (Instituto Tecnológico de Aeronáutica) in 1996 and an MBA in Business Entrepreneurial Management from ITA/ESPM in 2001. He completed the CGERD (Defense Resources Management Course) at ESG (Escola Superior de Guerra) in 2019 and underwent Leadership Development (2019-2020) and Board Member Development (2022) courses at Fundação Dom Cabral. He is a certified Advisory Board Member by CELINT (2023).

Ikedo has been a member of the Fiscal, Advisory, and Board of Directors (where he held the 1st Vice-Presidency) of ABIMDE – Brazilian Association of Defense and Security Material Industries for several years. He was Director of COMDEFESA at FIESP and a company representative at AIAB (Brazilian Aerospace Industries Association).

He has experience working with startups, having participated in the PIPE-Entrepreneur Program (High Technology Entrepreneurship Training) promoted by FAPESP in support of an agribusiness startup, and in entrepreneurial training through the Empretec Program of SEBRAE (August 2023). As an entrepreneur, he has experience as a founding partner of an investment advisory firm linked to a large Brazilian Investment Firm.

He volunteers as Director of Marketing and Communication for ITAEx, a non-profit association created by alumni to support ITA, its professors, and undergraduate students in their constant pursuit of educational excellence. Additionally, he mentors startups at the Nexus Circle of PIT (Technological Innovation Park of São José dos Campos).
